Although he sits at the back of the class and quite very often without a table and a chair, teachers never seem to forget about him. His birthday falls on the 29th February and he is a really charming boy. He EP3 is Soccer and he is the captain of the HCI Soccer team. His MSG is forever 1.00 even though he does not do any ACE. Next year, he will be taking HP and Biology and AEP. Xiao Ming is highly talented in everything he does. Be it playing soccer, playing the piano, singing operas, playing computer games, mugging textbooks, writing expository, clicking the mouse, practicing judo or stoning in the toilet. We learn best from experience if we reflect on it.

Today a great, and indeed, unexpected thing has happened: 2N has emerged as overall champions for the Festival of Sports. How is that a 'N-erd' class who famously skipped two whole years of iLeague and have almost zero sports achievements (as a class) manage to field 3 excellent teams in 3 different sports and emerge as overall champions among fourteen classes?

I hope all of you can reflect a little on this triumph. For instance, what did you people do differently this time from iLeague, or even (in a very different context), projects day? What, above all, contributed to this victory? What can you learn from this? And looking back, what do you think of yourself skipping iLeague without even trying?

I hope 2N students, especially the three captains, can help answer the above questions by replying to this e-mail. Also, it would be good for the three captains to do short write-ups on your respective events (can be merged with reflections) to post up on 2N's funerary (ok, memorial) website which include your photos etc.

Goh Id (7)

Firstly, i feel that the main contributing reason to everyone's successes is because we managed to work together as a class, as one team, in order to succeed in the tournament. This sort of initiative in taking action is the very difference between this FOSH and the iLeague, where it was apparent that nobody actually had any interest in taking part/couldn't be bothered/felt it was a waste of time. In fact, many classes in both Ortus and Ispark did not even send teams to take part in the competition. Indeed, this is exactly what happened to us in both the iLeague and Projects day. However, the very fact that we did stand up to take the initiative this time to form our teams show that we have learned from our previous errors, and realized that to take the initiative would allow us to accomplish things that would seem impossible.

Indeed, this time, it is evident that Ispark people are seen to be hopeless when it comes to sports and physical stuff, the ispark sec 1 and 3 team performances were rather abysmal, and i think this is not because Ispark is hopeless in sports, but rather because no one took the initiative to sign up for the events. As Zig Ziglar said:” You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great."

Also, i think another reason why we managed to succeed this time is because we worked as a team in order to prevail over other classes. The 3 events: Basketball, Soccer and Table Tennis are all team based sports, where one person alone isn't enough to succeed. This time i think the class managed to work well together and overwhelm other teams with our teamwork. This shows how the bonds between us have allowed the class to work together to succeed.

Lin Hengrui (12)

Great job for all 3 teams. This is indeed a remarkable achievement of 2N AS A CLASS. I would say that for soccer, I wasn't really expecting us to win. I thought that as long as everyone worked hard, did his part, winning doesn't matter anymore. Yet it was because everyone played as a team and worked as a team, and was willing to do his part for the team, that we eventually emerged 2nd. We kept the game tight, everyone was willing to run for the ball, however tired they were, and we defended and attacked as a team, hence we won as a team.

Everyone was also willing to give up his place so that everyone in the team could play, and our team chemistry was really good. We knew that we would win as a team or lose as a team, and nobody blamed others for any mistakes. Now that we have worked together as a team for this victory, soccer, table tennis and basketball, let us cherish this moment as a class and hold our heads up high, knowing that we all worked for this.

Ng Ming (13)

The worst thing being, I was in pretty bad shape yesterday. I was handicapped, I lost all my top spin smash because I didn't play for two weeks and was more used to rowing a kayak than aiming for corners. Then I got it back today and I won Leonard in a friendly. Yu Song told me that it's because they're both used to indoors playing and I'm used to the outside playing. I guess this counts as a point for consideration: versatility. I don't really particularly mind losing to him, he's a nice guy.

But I suppose the thing to consider is that you take some, you lose some. And that's whole thing when it comes to sportsmanship. Somebody plays you a good game, wins you fair, I think it's worth reflecting on and not begrudge someone who's better. I think at the end of day, it's just a game, you pit your skills, you know you've tried best, and I think that's enough.

By the by, I think our sec 1 iSpark juniors are amazing table tennis players. I'm stunned by them. I guess soon iSpark may become the most table tennis orientated consortium. Which, I think, is fantastic.

Ng Wei Lun (15)

As the captain of the soccer team, I applaud my team for emerging as 1st runner-ups. We have proved ourselves that we can excel both in academics and sports. However, it was not a one-man team. EVERYONE played his part in 2N's success. Hence, the main contributing factor would be TEAMWORK. For instance, when the soccer team tried hard to cope with the match schedule of the soccer competition (it was really tight), no one gave up. Everyone wanted to give their best shot and help the team in one way or another. It was rather obvious that everyone wants to get onto the field, kick some ball, and hopefully, end the match with a satisfied smile on his face. It was the best soccer performance by the class I have ever seen in the entire two years.

Teamwork definitely plays a vital role in these various sports, regardless of whether the individual is talented or not. We played as a class, we achieved as a class, and we celebrated as a class. I guess we have gained much from the OBS camp. TO SERVE, TO STRIVE, AND NOT TO YIELD. We have accomplished all of them rather successfully. It was when we realized the importance of teamwork then did we work as a class.

The OBS camp really helped us a lot. I guess it was the introduction of the camp that has caused us to believe in ourselves and have faith in our teammates. I don't deny that both iLeague and project's day was a result of a lack of enthusiasm and commitment. But considering the fact that we might have difficulties coping with our schoolwork and EP3s, we did not want be involved in a hectic timetable. Most importantly, it was the lack of class spirit that has caused us to reject joining the iLeague without any hesitation. We did not realize the importance of working as a class. Besides, if we had thought about the class, we might have put in more effort in our projects. The poor performance by our class is because most of us were rather self-centered at that point of time and had not thought for the class. Instead, we go for our own interests, resulting in the poor project's day performance. There was no class spirit then.

From the results of the FOS, we have showed that we CAN achieve anything as a class. This has showed us that everyone needs to cooperate well (something lacking in iLeague and Project's Day).

Achieving results or winning medals may be important, but it is definitely not the most important. There will be no joy if success can only be tasted by an individual. BUT, if a team lifts the trophy up together as one, everyone can taste the sweetness of victory, and hopefully, will strive even harder in the future. Now that we have finally realized the importance of teamwork, we have to make sure that we treasure our times together and make the best out of it. The FOS is just another test, not for integrity or courage, but for teamwork.

Tan Yu Quan (19)

One major reason for our triumph this time would be the fact that we allocated the players to the sports better. I guess for last year's FOS, we didn't take it as seriously as this time, and also that certain talents for sports like table tennis weren't exactly discovered yet.

This time round, we had more people who were forthcoming, and leaders like Wei Lun who step forth as the captain for soccer, and they managed to acquire the needed talents in the sports to enter and register for FOSH. This year, the allocation of players was somewhat easier as many have picked up table tennis over the 2 years, played lots of soccer with 2M (and neglected other issues simultaneously) etc. and we had a larger pool of suitable people to pick from. For example, Shi Kai is pretty good at table tennis, and he went for the table tennis sabbatical which aided him greatly in the game.

On top of that, we co-operated with each other to form the best teams without neglecting any other sport, and some of us like Jing Wei and I forgo-ed the swimming lessons for this final FOSH as a class (I think we missed the deadline for application as well).

All in all, we were more organised this time with more enthusiasm, cultivated over the time span of two years, in certain sports, and we all gave our best in our own categories, training hard for them (yusong had training sessions with the table tennis team, the basketball team also had training sessions together). We placed in a lot more effort in this FOSH, and we won this as a class, as a team.

Tan Yu Song (20)

Being slightly forced to be the captain of our table tennis team, I was rather confident that 2N's table tennis team would hit into the top three in the cohort (half of it, that is) This was as everyone in the team was very equipped in the foundation of the game. Ng Ming, as you all may know, always plays with me, and through time, this has geared the both of us to become amateurish. This goes the same for Huang Bin and Zhen Huai, who trained to solely enjoy, but which turned out useful eventually. For Shi Kai, he attended the table tennis sabbatical with me, so it was not surprising for his good foundation.

A brief summary of the tournament:

First match: We fought 2K, and everyone defeated the 5 people there. (Zhen Huai won, Shi Kai won, Huang Bin won, Ng Ming won and I won)

2nd match: 3 people out of 5 failed to turn up in 2J, so we won automatically.

3rd match: We fought 2I, which consisted of strong table tennis players. I won Milton, Shi Kai won Isaac, Ng Ming lost to Leonard (my neighbour, also in water polo), Zhen Huai lost to Jason (the squash player) and Huang Bin lost to Zhou Kai (basketball player).

Overall, 2I was a sports oriented class, and they beat us to the champion title.

However, I felt that we had already done my best. About one week before, I already knew about the formation of the table tennis team in 2I, and I was already worrying my head off. I was most worried about Shi Kai, and wanted to train with him, and my effort indeed paid off.

What I want to say is that, in sports, it is not actually about the winning, but actually the process in which you train, and how you manage to win, or why you lost. The main thing about sports is to keep us fit and healthy (ironic for my case), and the winning part is not very important; it just inspires us to enjoy and practice the sport more.

I remembered how Ng Ming, I and Huang Bin first started the table tennis craze in Secondary 1, and I have counted, and realised that almost everyone has played table tennis in school for at least once (even Chao Xu, Desmond and Jing wei). I hope this craze can continue as it is not a very harmful one; it beats computer games.

So, I am rather proud of our achievements in FOSH. (I remembered how I was made to do extra CIP last year and miss FOSH). I am also proud of the soccer team and basketball team.

Give yourself a high five!

Toh Yong Hui Desmond (24)

As said earlier by other classmates, the very thing that we had done differently this time as compared to i-League, or Project’s Day for that matter, was that we did not give up, since for all three sports items, there were people who signed up, unlike i-League or Project’s Day in the past.

Indeed, this action contributed partially to our victory, since there were classes which did not take part in some of the sports items, hence losing the chance to victory even before they could try.

Indeed, looking back at the different incidents, I think most of us would feel ashamed of our own attitudes in the past, take, for instance, our RS group not taking part in the Literature Seminar just a few days ago.

However, I think that this is merely a start. It is not enough. We should continue to strive hard and improve in our characters. It may not be easy, but let us hope that we can do it.

Cheerios,

Lhr

YNWA

Our beloved teachers!

A class without the teachers is nothing, and the same goes for 2N07.

Introducing to you our beloved teachers!

Mr Jared Quek

Mr Quek is our dedicated form teacher who has guided us these two years, making sure we excel not just academically, but emotionally as well. I’m sure all of us remember the huge amount of SRQ, essays, redrafts, he piled on us. But I’m also sure we all know it is for our own good, to help us develop our skills for the years ahead, and of course, for our ACEs. I am also quite certain that none of us had met a teacher like Mr Quek before, who heavily emphasizes on our moral development, to make sure we have integrity, initiative, generosity, gratitude and empathy. Well he might be harsh at times, and it might be tough to keep up with his expectations, but the challenges he brought us through shall definitely help us in the long run, and I am sure we are all very thankful for that.

Mr Rong Yi Fei

Don't be fooled by his appearance, for Mr Rong is really good at soccer! Unexpected right? =x Mr Rong is our Maths teacher and he is really patient and encouraging. He never loses his cool when explaining the <strike>cheeminology</strike> art of Mathematics -- well, at least not when we don't act like idiots. Thanks to his patient guidance, we did not flunk our exam. Mr Rong makes Maths cool! (uh, slightly anyway =x)

Mdm Tham Siang Wah

Mdm Tham, or Mdm Math, is our wonderful math teacher, who explained patiently to us when we were going ‘OMG cheem!’ We are all very thankful for that, if not maybe more of us would have flunked maths. And I’m sure all of us remembered the photos of Mdm Tham’s family that she showed us, which made us go ‘Aww’. Although she was away for quite some time, I am sure all of us still treasure the time she had with us, and remembered all the fun times we had during her lesson.

Miss Sally Lim

Miss Lim’s maths lessons are always noisy, enjoyable, and just plain fun. She is a very enthusiastic teacher, and often has interesting discussions with us about maths problems. We are also very enthusiastic in her class and I believe she must find it very hard to control us and keep us quiet. But we want her to know, we enjoy her lessons very much, and that she is a fantastic teacher.

Miss Zhang Li Ping

Miss Clarinda Choh

While Literature is hard, but we still love the lessons. Literature lessons are always very interactive and it certainly trains us to speak up. Surely we still remember the start of the year, where our class is so silent, and nobody dared to voice their opinions. But now, our class is participating much more in discussions (although we still can’t compare with the class upstairs), and also, we will promise to speak better English. No, really.

Mrs Dawn Lew

Though Mrs Lew was only with us for a short period, we all find her lessons pleasant, and at times, exciting as well. Her way of teaching was quite new to us, especially the splitting of us into two groups and having a small debate. At first, we were a bit unsure, but soon, we all started to enjoy it( especially Ming =P), and contributed actively. It was certainly like a breath of fresh air, something different from the normal monotonous lessons. We are extremely thankful to have you as our teacher.

Miss Letchmi Devi

Miss Letchmi teaches us the extremely complicated chemistry with loads of stuff to memorize. But we all still love her lessons, especially the practical ones, with all the different colorful chemicals with different aroma. Of course, Miss Letchmi is a strict teacher as well, but its for us to learn self-discipline, which I’m sure all of us lack (some more than others =x). Regardless, Miss Letchmi is still a great teacher.

Mrs Koh-Oon Hsui Leng

Biology is probably the most mind-blowingly appealing and <strike>arousing </strike>exciting subject out of the three sciences. Especially with the study of the <strike>reproductive organs</strike> human body accompanied by <strike>stimulating and obscene</strike> educational videos, which got some of us <strike>incredibly</strike> quite excited. Then there were the fun outdoor lessons where we ran around the school to examine the grass and trees, it sure felt good to get out of our stuffy classroom for once. We all love Biology, especially when Mrs Koh teaches it!

<strike>*coughcoughhighlycensoredcoughcough*</strike>

Mr Chia Kean

Physics lessons are always fun and easy to understand. This is all no doubt due to Mr Chia’s wonderful teaching, which I am sure all of us love. I can assure you all of us shall remember that air molecules move around rapidly, randomly, and continuously. His teachings are always clear, and not so cheem that all of us go ‘Huh?’. Of course, there is also the numerous fun experiments we conducted during the practical class (including the ones that failed too XD). To have Mr Chia as our teacher, we are indeed very grateful.

Mr Melvin Chng

Geography always made people sleepy (okay, maybe its only Shi Cheng), but when Mr Chng teaches it, nobody fell asleep! Or not as much anyway. But despite this, Mr Chng has always taught us well, his lessons are always clear and focused. We are very much privileged to have such a wonderful teacher teaching us.

Mr Eddie Lau

Even though Mr Lau never taught us for very long, he sincerely helped us revise for our exams and we are grateful for that. Mr Lau's lessons are enriching and at the same time fun. Mr Lau tolerated our ridiculous antics and tried his best to prepare us for our exams.

Mr Eugene Chua

History took a new twist when Mr Chua arrived. No more textbook-teaching, (though we could really do without those memorising) instead, interactive lessons, videos and activities taught us about Hitler (remember those songs?). Even though we usually don't read up and prepare for the lessons (except various individuals =D), Mr Chua still gets the lessons going. Oh and Mr Chua plays soccer too, albeit really scary.

Sorry about the photo. Couldn't help it =D.

Mr Yong Jong Shyan

Infocomm lessons are always much anticipated. It is fun, informative, and interesting at the same time. While the lessons might be complicated at times, Mr Yong always patiently explains it again and again to us. Also, we would have probably flunk our Infocomm Final Assessments if not for his generous extensions of deadlines =X. Thanks a lot, Mr Yong!

Mr Kent Cheong

When lessons first started, most of us knew nuts about photoshop. But after one term, we have all gained skills to be able to successfully create a poster, or even edit our pictures so that the pimples are gone! Photoshop lessons are always filled with fun, and like Mr Yong, he also gives generous extensions of deadlines. (Three terms!!!!) We sure hope all IS teachers are like that. =D

Baby Boxing!

Hey guys this is the Pictures section where you can post any picture about yourself or the class or anything interesting. Post any joke that you think is funny and let us have a laugh.

Heres a joke (no offence intended)

A confused nine-year-old boy goes up to his mother and asks, "Is God male or female?"

After thinking for a moment, his mother responds,” Well God is both male and female."

This confuses the little boy, so he asks, "Is God black or white?"

"Well, God is both black and white."

This further confuses the boy so he asks, "Is God gay or straight?"

At this the mother is getting concerned, but answers nonetheless,

"Honey, God is both gay and straight."

At this the boy's face lights up with understanding and he triumphantly asks...

"Is God Michael Jackson?"

Cheerios,

Lhr

YNWA

Hi guys, Yu Song here. My computer miraculously healed an hour ago. Anyway, I found an old joke book so I will be contributing many jokes here:

Marriage jokes:

1) Marriage is like a lottery. But in a lottery at least you have a chance.

2) Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his bachelor's degree and the woman gets her master's.

3) "Is it true that matches are made in heaven? If so why do they only cost ten cents a box?"

4) Then there was a magician (yuquan?) who took a saw and cut his wife into half because she wanted a separation.

Waiter jokes:

1) Customer: Waiter, tell me, do you have frog's legs?

Waiter: No sir, it's my rheumatism that makes me walk like this.

2) "Waiter! Why are there coins in my soup?"

"Well, sir, remember, you said you would not come to this restaurant again unless there was some change in the meals."

3) Customer: Waiter! Look here, this plate is all damp.

Waiter: Sir, that is your soup.

Lame jokes:

1) As the departing guest paid his hotel bill, he turned and called to the bell boy, "Quick, run up to room 220 and see if I left my suit there. Hurry, because I have only 10 minutes to catch the train." Six minutes later the bell boy was back and out of breath. "Yes," he reported, "it's up there."

2) A man was walking in a deserted lane at night. Suddenly two men approached him. One of them said, "Sir, do you have a 10 cent coin?"

"Sure, but why do you want it for so late at night?"

"You see, there are two of us, and we want to decide by a toss of the coin who will keep your wrist watch and who your wallet."

3) A young woman filling in a job application form wrote under "Sex": "Twice a week."

4) Two men were having a conversation.

"I will never forget the day I fought a lion single-handedly."

"How did you come out?"

"Single handed!"

5) An American visitor to Japan told a joke lasting five minutes. The interpreter then translated it using only a few words. Everyone laughed. Afterwards the visitor asked the interpreter how he translated such a long joke so quickly. "Well, I didn't think they would get the point, so I said, 'Our guest has just told a joke. Everyone please laugh.' "

6) When you tell a joke to a German, he laughs once because everyone is laughing. An Englishman laughs twice: once to be polite and again in the middle of the night when he gets it.

7) A pretty blonde who joined the army was asked by the captain, how she liked military life. She summed it up, "It's like this, 'Yes, sir', all day and 'No sir', all night."

8) Horses are more sensible than men. When ten horses run, thousands of people will go and watch them. But when ten people run, not even one horse will go and watch.

The RI lame jokes (from quite long ago and if you still miss them) :

1. Purple fashion
One day, there was a boy who was walking to school. Just then, he saw someone wearing a T-shirt with the words "Purple Fashion". He became curious. In class, he asked his teacher. His teacher gave a shocked gasp and said, "YOU! GO TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE NOW!" The boy went there. In the office, the principal asked him, "Boy, why are you here?" "I was punished by my teacher." "For what?" "I asked her what was purple fashion. " Upon hearing this, the principal gave a shocked gasp and shouted, "You are expelled!" Confused, the boy wandered along the streets.
Soon, he came across a policeman. "Boy, why are you wandering on the steets?" "I was punished by my teacher and principal for saying 'Purple fashion'. " The policeman quickly brought the boy to jail.
After 20 years, the boy was to be released. The warden asked him, "Why are you jailed here for?" The boy(actually man) told him what had happened. The warden said, "GET OUTTA HERE!!!"
The boy, now a man, wandered on the streets. Just then, he saw an old man. Still curious about the two words, he asked, "Sir, do you know what is'Purple Fashion'?" The man replied, "Oh, that. Well, cross that road and look behind that building. Then you will know. " The boy quickly followed the instructions. However, halfway across the road, a car ran him over and he died.
Moral Of The Story: Look left and right before you cross the road.2.Little Gold Men(Don't get confused)
One day, five little gold men were taking a walk along the little gold countryside. Two of the little gold men thought that the walk was boring, so they headed back home. The other three little gold men went along the little gold hill, down the little gold path, and saw a little gold house. They rang the little gold doorbell. A little gold old man welcomed them in and they sat on the little gold chairs. The old man asked what the little gold men would like to eat. Two wanted Mee Rebus while one wanted Nasi Lemak. The little gold old man went into the little gold kitchen to prepare. After a while, the man served the little gold plates on the little gold tables and the men ate. After that, the little gold men went out of the little gold house, down the little gold path, over the little gold hills and back to their little gold homes.
Moral Of The Story: Mee Rebus is more popular than Nasi Lemak. (Because two men ate Mee Rebus while One man ate Nasi Lemak! HAHA!)

3. Siew Mai and Fishball
A Siew Mai and a fishball were good friends. One day, the fishball wanted the Siew Mai to buy Fried Rice, but the Siew Mai bought Laksa instead. The fishball became angry and threw the Siew Mai into the water.

How do you put an elephant into a fridge in 3 steps?
Open the door, put the elephant in and close the door.

How do you put a giraffe into a fridge in 4 steps?
Open the door, take the elephant out, put the giraffe in and close the door.

The Lion King held a meeting for all animals. Who did not come?
The giraffe. (It is in the fridge!)

You are on the bank of a river infested with crocodiles. How do you get across it if there is no bridge or boat and nothing to cling to?
Just swim. The crocodiles went for the meeting.
Haha...The FUNNIEST question is next...

You fish in the water. What do you find?
The Siew Mai. (HAHAHAHA!!!)

4. The Book
There was a man who went to a roadside bookstore. He saw a big book. The old shopkeeper, said, "This is an enchanted book. If you read it, good luck will come to you. It is sold at $150. However, if you do not read all the pages before you read the last page, bad things will happen to you. " The man bought it. At home, the man read the book, but thought it was extremely boring. He even slept while halfway reading it. When he woke up, he had the urge to look at the last page, but remembered the old lady's words. Just then, the wind blew and coincidentally, flipped the book to the last page. The man saw this: "Price Of Book: $3.99."

5. The monk
On December 21st, 1938, a man driving a Ferari crashed into a tree in the middle of a forest at midnight. He saw a temple nearby. There was an old monk. He asked the monk if he could stay there overnight. The monk agreed. While the man slept, he heard a "tok-tok-tok-tok" sound throughout. The next morning, he asked the monk what the sound was. The monk replied, "You must become a monk to know. "
On December 21st, 1939, the same man driving another Ferari crashed into the same tree in the middle of the same forest at midnight. He saw the same temple and the same old monk. He asked the monk if he could stay overnight there; the monk agreed. While sleeping, the man heard the "tok-tok-tok-tok" sound again. The next morning, he asked the monk what the sound was. The monk gave him the same reply, "You must become a monk to know. " This time, the man was so curious that he became a monk. He went to the older monk.
The monk said, "You must travel around the whole world first. " The man did that and after 30 years, went back to the monk. The monk brought him to an underground tunnel and handed him an enormous bunch keys. There was a gold door. The man used the gold key to open the gold door. Then he saw a silver door. He used the silver key to open the silver door. He then used a bronze key to open a bronze door, used a copper key to open a copper door, so on and so forth for 30 years. At the end, he used the styrofoam key to open the styrofoam door and finally knew what the "tok-tok-tok-tok" sound was.
The joke ends here.
I bet you are asking me, "What is the tok-tok-tok-tok sound?" My reply to you is, "I don't know. I am not a monk. "
Ok i guess I am pretty lame.

Btw, I was known for being a joke bank in pri sch, and that skill has not been useful in HCI till now.

Enjoyed the jokes?

Official Opening

Woots! Here are the responses to the discussion on the e-groups about why 2N is great. Great responses guys. As for those who did not respond on the e-groups, you can respond through this post. Honest and creative responses are much appreciated.

Ng Ming 2N13

Well, I think for the fact that at least we're not a graveyard of fermenting hate or anything.

JK. :D

It's rather awkward for me to find praise about something that concerns myself, but one thing I like about the class is that we sort of stick together. We laugh. We joke. We have grown to understand and appreciate each person's individuality and uniqueness in the class. We keep each other's heads up. We help each other out. We hang out together. We put up mindmaps online to help everyone. :P

Yu Quan 2N19

Why twoN is great.

'Great' is an understatement!

Why so?

Simply because we are united. And this unity is not the common 'bond'
that other classes experience or talk about. It is much stronger, and
has grown in strength continually throughout our two years together.
All the adversities, all the pain, all the suffering. ALL THE LOVE AND
FUN WE SHARE. This unity is something I have NEVER experienced before -- my primary six class does not even come close to this standard. We
have triumphed many times, be it in studies or sports. And this was
only possible with everyone's effort. Everyone's heart.

2N never died.

Jing Wei 2N16

Here's a list of why 2N is great:
It is because....
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
we
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
got
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
1) Jia Ming jumping over the rainbow
2) Bryan and his artistic masterpieces
3) Zong Han the IT genius
4) Shi Cheng the Narutard
5) Daniel and his guitar
6) Toon Min our beloved chairman
7) Goh Id and his basketball
8 ) Huang Bin caring for our welfare
9) Kenji and ?his girlfriend?
10) Shun Xiang in maplestory
11) Shi Ping mad over liverpool
12) Hengrui our secretary
13) Ng Ming and his endless knowledge
14) Shi kai and his er-hu
15) Wei Lun our ostrich!
17) Kai Kiat our cute little treasurer
18) Wilson the wheelchairman
19) Yu Quan the magical boy
20) Yu Song our musical genius
21) Chao Xu our medic
22) Leon our handsome boy
23) Kai En the ex-convict
24) Desmond the 'shen'
25) Zhen Huai the 'mianbao chao ren'
26)Justin our polo boy
and (16)I, the monitor!

United, we form the greatest unique class 2N!

Shi Cheng 2N04

Dear all,

There are many many reasons why 2N is great, one of the best reason is probably our unity. Through the numerous challenges and obstacles we have have been through, even the seemingly impossible ones, we have emerged as a class unlike any other. In this class, we all know that the rest would help if even one of us gets into trouble, we know that our leaders would not hesitate to sacrifice themselves to help us, and that the rest of the class would gladly do so the same for them. This bond that we forged is something beyond that of our academic side, it is something that we achieved through sweat, tears, failures, and eventually--success. (clichéd but its true)

The sakura may die, but the people shall always remember the beauty it once held. It is indeed my great fortune to have been a part of this great class, a class that shall always be cherished.

2N-The Best Class. Ever.

Hengrui 2N12

2N just isn't great. Honestly, I think 2N can burn in coffins or drown
in rivers or wear 100 tons hoods or get tossed around in voilent
hurricanes or get chewed by Lucifer for all I care. Or just stay in
some weird place with a castle and do nothing.

Uh huh. That's it.

Joke of the Year. Decade.
Probably Century.

Well, enough crap. I guess the reason we are so closely attached to
each other is because everything we've been through together. And
that's alot. We should thank those disasters for happening, really. To
be honest, I went through Sec 1 missing my primary school friends.
Fortunately, Sec 1 was pretty uneventful, as compared to this year.
Everything we went through brought our friendship and bond to a higher
level. We saw how everyone stood by our classmate, be it the CIP
incident, the fan etc. We saw how everyone was willing to sacrifice
their own self-interest for the sake of our classmate. We saw how
everyone would lend a helping hand when someone is in need.

All our achievements are purely superficial. Look deeper and we see
the effort we put in together to achieve them; the encouragement we've
given to our friends; the teamwork. That is most important. That is
something unique that we share, and something other classes don't
have.

We've been through bad and good times together, and we celebrate those
times. We celebrate our friendship and trust and bond, and we bring
them with us forever.

The flame of 2N burns on. The spirit of 2N walks on.

Toon Min 2N06

Dear all,

While class unity is indeed our greatest strength, I feel that the root cause of our greatness is altruism. We help each other without asking for any tangible reward in return. For example, we help each other in our studies, yet we seldom directly demand others to repay the favour back to us. Another example is when you guys stood up for Jingwei and I during the CIP incident. Though you may lack moral courage, it was your motivation to selflessly help us in times difficulties and setbacks that really touched me.
In simple words, we care for each other's welfare, thus creating a friendly atmosphere within the classroom. Though we tease each other, ostracism is hardly shown in our class. With altruism comes respect and brotherly love for each other, and eventually our class unity is born. Like what Hengrui said, miss 2N and remember how we have united together as a class.

Wei Lun 2N15

2N is simply F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!

F- Freaks of the class add colours to our lessons
A- Acting like retards
B- Bold (to damage school property) and Brave (to admit destroying shaking fan)
U- United and Undivided
L- Lame but funny
O- Odd and weird (in the humourous sense)
U- Uphold truth (sometimes), love (rare), justice (minority)
S- Strong and resilient (through hard times)

I just cannot put my feelings of 2N into words. We have jumped over so many hurdles
together and the important thing is that we have successfully learnt how to be a
CLASS after two full years. We are all willing to help one another through difficulties without
requesting for anything in return, and that is something I applaud each and every member
of 2N'07. We operated like one team and would go all measures to obtain glorious success for the class.
I couldn't have asked for anything better this year.

It wasn't about 'I', it was about 'US'.

2N = PERFECT = EXCEPTIONAL = GG

Shun Xiang 2N10

2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N

2N is OWNING!!! 2N is ROCKING!!! 2N is POONING!!!

2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N2N

I just don't know where to start because there are simply too many things to say...Hard to put into a few sentences anyway. We have been together as a class for 63 072 000 seconds (including the rest of the holidays until the countdown to 2008), and all of us went through many, many difficulties as a class over these 'few' seconds. I remember the first time being allocated to class 1N at around 63 million seconds ago. The class which I never knew would be ThE WoNdErFuL ClAsS! It was fate that brought us together into a class where great friendships were forged.

It is our uniqueness, lameness, coolness, shiokness, zainess, etc. that make me feel great to be part of such a class. The times we had together, whether good or bad, had been fantastic, and I will never forget them. It is through these times that we are able to see one another in a deeper level.

I will always remember this 63 072 000 seconds, the turning point of my life.

Never forget ThE WoNdErFuL ClAsS!

Huang Bin 2N08

Hi all,

Well, I can’t really express myself properly, and so much things have happened in our class. I can only say 2N is a wonderful class, a class of great unity and bonding.

2N is great.
.
..
...
....
.....
......
.......
........
.........
..........
...........
............
.............
..............
...............
................
.................
..................
...................
....................

Erm, I think a simple 2N is great is not enough, and all the mushy words have been said. So here's how I express myself:

2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.
2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.2N is great.

Kay, thats 10x "2N is great." but I think thats still not enough. All that we've been through cannot be put into words (maybe Ng Ming can try that). I will continue to miss 2N, the class which consist of weird personalities.

Kenji 2N09

I shall do it DotA style.

2N just drew first blood! (1st in level)
2N is on a killing spree! (3 times first)
2N is dominating! (4 times first)
2N just got a mega kill! (5 times first)
2N is unstoppable! (6 times first)
2N is wicked sick! (7 times first)
2N just got a mon-mon-mon-monster kill! (8 times first)
2N is Godlike! (FOSH victory)
2N just got a Triple Kill!
2N is Beyond Godlike![Echo: Holy Shit] (Awarded double for teamwork &
contributions)
2N just got a Double Kill!

Yes, if we were playing a game, we would have won hands down. 100-0.

But this is no game, WE ARE 2N2007.
We accomplished all that in REAL LIFE.
Now, we will bring that legacy on.

2N'07 to the end!

Yu Song 2N20

2N is all the positive words you can think of. Over this period of two
years, we have you3 fu2 tong2 xiang3 "ed" and you3 nan4 tong2 dang1
"ed", and have gone through many things as a class, especially this
year, when we had a rebellion as a class, though a silent one.

Only happy memories are left behind in the 2N classroom. Those fights,
those arguments, those conflicts, let them be bygones. No matter, what
conflicts have happen, I hope everyone will remember every single
member of 2N, till the end of their lives.

Cheers to a 2N with a bright future!

Hope the HP people become truly humanistic humans and understand more
about humanity.
Hope the SMTP (IS) people be people who are Bill Gates, Steve Jobs
Hope the BSP people become truly bicultural people.
Hope the others be of great contribution to mankind, whatever your outcomes.
Hope Mr Quek and the other teachers continue a 'huo dao lao xue dao lao' life

Justin 2N26

Hi all,

I think 2N is great because:

1) Humourous and interesting class (especially Wilson and his lame jokes)
2) We share the same ideas
3) The great bond we share
4) Pure ownage academically
5) Argueing over stupid things
6) Helping each other (homeworks :) )
7) Fun times together (soccer, basketball, tabletennis...)

8 ,9 ,10 ...

There are just too many things for why 2N is great. However, I could not
simply write them all down in one day and there are others which are too
sensitive (to teachers or to those who are ostracized).
Yet, with our chemistry, I do not need to write them down because great
minds think alike!!!

Shi Kai 2N14

Dear all,

I think 2N is great because it is the most united class I've seen in my 14 years life. We solved problems together and completed the 'obstacles course' of our first two years in hwachong together. I am proud to have such a good class which was led by a marvellous chairman and a less-than-marvellous monitor. They've made sacrifices for us (the CIP incident) and I feel that they definitely did not let us down. I believe 2N would not be over but will live in our hearts as we set off in different ways. Though we were seperated, we would still be united as one as the spirit of 2N lives as strong as a grass (Luo4 hua2 sheng1 de4 gu4 shi4) inside us.

2N OWNS EVERY OTHER CLASS !!!

Ballom, Master of Death
Balloon, Master of Flight
2N, Master of Unity
Shi Kai, Master of Nothing

Hope to see more responses. Now I'm kinda bored so heres a joke.

There was a cop on his horse waiting to cross the road when a little boy on his new shiny bike stopped beside him.

''Nice bike,'' the cop said, ''did Santa bring it to you?''

''Yep,'' the little boy said, ''he sure did!''

The cop looked at the bike and while handing the boy a $20 ticket he said,

''Next year, tell Santa to put a license plate on the back of it.''

To go along with the cop, the little boy said, ‘‘Nice horse you got there sir, did Santa bring it to you?'' ''Yes, He sure did,'' said the cop.

The little boy looked up at the cop and said, ''Next year, tell Santa to put the dick underneath the horse instead of on top.''

Cheerios,

Lhr

YNWA

Responses to Final Letter

Hey guys, the much awaited launch of the 2N Memorial Website is finally here! Sorry for the delay. Here is the first post for us to relief our recent memory.

Replies to Mr. Quek’s “Final Letter”

Dear former members of class 2N,

The Japanese call the Sakura the most beautiful flower for it blooms beautifully for only one week before it falls and dies. All things, good or bad, must end—and perhaps beauty is enhanced by its fading.

Two years have passed since I first saw you on the sports field and in the old 1N classroom. I conducted your first lesson and your last, and you were my first form class and quite possibly, my last.

Our two years together have not been smooth. Yet after the storm and drama, the ups and downs, the mistakes made by both sides, I believe we have ended in peace, in truth and in triumph. And we have come to the understanding that you and I have both been sincere in our own ways.

Your last few months, few weeks, few days, were undoubtedly your best--a time that made 2N2007, 1N2006, a class that was (sigh) truly different--a class that was truly GREAT.

Your tangible achievements were clear: you were the only ones who swept two class awards in the last assembly, you ranked first among 14 classes academically for seven (or eight--to be accurate) times in a row, you initiated and completed the first ever class-based HC CIP (probably), your triumphed in both iSpark nites (in the first by being the only Sec One performer), you were champions in festival of sports and (well) dodgeball, and as your EL teacher: I must say you have improved tremendously over 2 years. And finally, you have kept
your classroom--now no more--[usually] immaculately clean and
beautiful.

But the intangible aspects shone even more--and are indeed much more important: the way you have again and again generously rallied around your leaders and each other in your countless disasters; the gracious things you said to them at the end, including those from Wilson, the last Chairman; the way your leaders tried again and again to improve and serve you; the way they took responsibility for failing you; and the way YOU took responsibility for failing THEM.

And the essence of this beauty would be the way you gave to each other in true friendship, the way you have built a classroom of peace.

Yes, of course, things were never perfect, nor was sincerity or
gratitude always full and complete. But we could only aspire for
perfection in this world--and all of you, AS A CLASS, had gone well down this road. And most, or perhaps even all of you, have the sincerity and perseverance to pick yourself up again and again and move on upwards. Best of all, through all your mistakes, and despite all your achievements which could have swelled many heads, you have learnt humility.

Yuquan, in the iSpark rally, exemplified this humility and truth that allowed him to stand out from every candidate--priceless and rare qualities that caused Beng Heng, the 3N chairman, to praise him as 'the only candidate we can trust'.

And these traits now characterise quite a few of you. Remember this always: 'he who exalts himself will be humbled, he who humbles himself will be exalted'. 2N has shown how true, how wonderfully true, this saying could be.

These are the compliments that you all deserve. At the end, when
2N2007 is no more, when we can look back in truth and judge
completely with justice, you and I can both say that 2N has been
something different. All of you, every last one, whether by your
mistakes and your repentance, your gifts and your contributions,
your triumphs, strivings and your defeats, have contributed to a
miracle. And of course, remember all your teachers who have given so much to you. Be grateful.

I have seldom praised you, yes. As Mr. Krison puts it, whenever I
summon someone from your former class, it is usually only for one purpose...

Like an obsessive sculptor, I have busied myself with chiseling,
with hitting endless imperfections with sharp tools
and driving you onwards, upwards always--with fiery methods if
necessary. Your other teachers have done the same, to a lesser and greater degree. Often I have made mistakes, being too harsh, being too blind, too unwise; for these, I ask your forgiveness. Now, at the end, the Art forged from finest STONE is unveiled, and like your iSpark nite performance, it is flawed, but immaculately beautiful.

Continue reading (yes, in your holidays), and reading much. Remember 1N2006, 2N2007, and bring its flame into your future. Give generously to your friends as you have always done; try to give generously even to those who are ungrateful, those who curse, despise and persecute you--emulate the protagonist in my two parables. Remember to 'give, and it shall be given to you.'

Finally, embrace truth, love and humble justice always--do that
sincerely and with perseverance, and one day you will surely find
the highest gifts life can bring.

All the best,
Mr. Quek

Dear Mr. Quek,

I'm sure all of us will cherish the memories of our 2 years with you.
Even though there are unpleasant memories, the happy memories we share
are more than enough to cover those unhappy ones. Without all the
teachers' help, we would not be who we are today. Hence, I believe
everyone would like to express our thanks you all our teachers. Thank
you.

Also, all the best for your future endeavors.

Yours truly,
Hengrui

Dearest Mr. Quek,

I believe that all of us definitely have grown alot under your guidance, and yes, we have improved under lots of awkward situations which we placed ourselves in. Still, from the bottom of my heart, you are a great teacher, and probably the best I will EVER have.

Here's a big THANK YOU for the two years of TEACHING AND LEARNING!

Yours Sincerely,
Tan Yu Quan 2N19

Dear all,

Seneca, a Roman figure, once said, "Things that were hard to bear are sweet to remember."

This year has indeed been truly hard and filled with obstacles, but we overcame all of them, and I’m sure we will all cherish those memories.

Mr. Quek, to be honest, I have never encountered a teacher so dedicated to the point of putting us through so many difficult tests, not just academic tests, but tests of our moral courage and character. I am a victim of many of them. I shall be honest, I do not particularly like the tests, however, those tests are also testaments as to how much you truly want us to develop into great people -- with integrity, initiative, and wisdom. I believe we have all grown a lot in these two years, and we shall continue to do so. While our time with you is coming to an end, the memories and life lessons from you shall always remain in our hearts.

While this may sound corny, but they are definitely true. You shall always remain as the best teacher we have ever had. Thank you, and good luck.

Of course, our success are also due to the other teachers, who helped us endlessly and gave us precious advice when we encountered problems. Our success is largely due to all you teachers. Thank you, for all that you have given us.

Yours Sincerely,
Chong Shi Cheng

Dear Mr. Quek,

Our two years with you as our form teacher is indeed filled with many bittersweet memories. And I believe even after you have parted with 2N, we will always treasure those moments and remember the tears of joy and heartbreak that we have shed together. You have been a great teacher to us, helping us to top the cohort a remarkable 8 times in a row. You have even gone beyond your call of duty, giving us plenty of chances to redraft our work. Though all these meant extra workload for you, you have never asked for anything in return from us.

More importantly, you have always tried to instill important virtues such as initiative and gratitude in us by putting us through all those difficult tests. You wanted us to come out stronger from those tests in, yet we have always failed you down time and time over again. Personally as the former class chairman of 2N, I feel that I have grown alot in these two years. You have given me plenty of chances to improve and work on my failures, such as not maintaining class cleanliness and my weakness in not reporting to you about delinquent behaviors. Yet I have often let you down and failed to uphold my responsibility as the leader of the class. My successes this year have been overshadowed by the numerous times I have fallen into the pit holes of your tests of character and moral courage, but I have learned greatly from these tests and hope to improve on my wisdom.

As such, I forgive you when you asked for our forgiveness in your final letter for making mistakes, being too harsh, being too blind, too unwise. Instead, I should be the one asking for your forgiveness for my countless mistakes. Let us move on as better people.

Thank you Mr. Quek as well as our subject teachers for helping us overcome our difficulties and problems over these two years. To all my dearest classmates who would be reading this e-mail anyway, thank you for ensuring that my first and last year as your chairman has been a great year that would always remain a pleasurable memory to me.

Yours Sincerely,
Toon Min

Dear Mr. Quek,

Through these two years I have learnt a lot from you. From last year, the not-passing-up-homework until the present, I have improved a lot. I will continue to strive harder and try my best not to fill the last few ranks of my new class in 2008.

Our class is blessed to have a dedicated form teacher, chairman and monitor. People might scorn these words, but they are the truest I can ever speak of. Throughout my time in this class, I have seen and reaped the benefits of the efforts that you and our CMC has put in. Although sometimes through harsh and unpleasant measures, you have managed to develop our class in a highly successful one. Some unhappy incidents are forgotten; it is the happiest moments in this class which I will remember throughout my life.

Indeed, Toon Min and Jing Wei have both done much better than (er-hem) me and Kai Kiat last year. I really appreciate the efforts Toon Min and Jing Wei have put in. Thanks guys.

Thanks to Mr. Quek, Toon Min, Jing Wei and 2N for giving me such a great experience in this class. I have learnt a lot about life and how to become a better person.Let's enjoy ourselves together (most probably the last time) at the class chalet next week!

Regards,

Wilson.

Dear Mr. Quek,

You may not be teaching us anymore, but the times we had gone through together will always linger in our memories. You have taught us what is real joy, what is real pain, and what is real gratitude. These two years could never have been more fruitful. You have sacrificed your precious time for us, and that is something not every teacher will do. You have reprimanded us for being complacent, ungrateful, insincere, and lack of integrity, and I respect and thank you for that. You have stood before us as a teacher, a role model, and sometimes, a friend, and we will treasure those laughters. These memories will always be kept within the four walls of 2N classroom-the place where we had wonderful times together. You tried so hard to teach us life lessons but we did not take them into heart. For that, I apologise for our ignorance, but I hope you will forgive us. This class will always remember the lessons you have taught us.

Thank you for your priceless guidance.

Best of luck,
Wei Lun

Dear Mr. Quek,

Two years have passed since the first day you became the form teacher of our class and I daresay though we had many bitter memories together, we had gained a lot, both academically and not forgetting the aspect of holistic development. However, most of us often complained about the harsh treatments we received from you and not realizing that it was because of these harsh treatments that we were able to enjoy the outstanding achievements of 2N2007.

It was not until recently that most of us realized that what you have been doing was actually for our own good, such as instilling gratitude and initiative in every one of us. I really feel that I am very fortunate to have a teacher like you, who bothered not only our academic results, but also our character development. I am very grateful for everything you have done for all of us.

Although I am not your best student, but I definitely know what is gratitude. Therefore, I sincerely thank you for all the effort you have put in for us, all the sacrifices you have made to change our class and bond us all together. I am sure everybody agrees with me that all the credit goes to you, for pushing us to be the top in everything.

How I wish time would stop at 26/10/2007, so that all of us will still be together as 2N2007.

Once again, thank you Mr. Quek.

Yours sincerely,
Leon

Dear Mr. Quek,

Our 2 years together have truly been filled with numerous ups and downs, and I believe everyone of us here has emerged as stronger people. Although we had repeated our mistakes several times, you did not give up on us and continued to guide us on the right path. I will definitely cherish all the memories we had as a class, whether pleasant or not.

It might be true that the sakura dies after blooming beautifully, but the soul of the sakura; the memories I had in 2N, will forever remain deeply etched in my mind. I really love 2N and I hope that however different the next few years will turn out to be, we will still remember our class spirit and carry our flame as far as it can go.

Finally, thank you very very much Mr. Quek for anything and everything you had given us, and I hope that one day you will find even greater and higher gifts of life. I wish you all the best for the future! Also, you have placed utmost trust in us, one that cannot be replaced or forgotten. These are the qualities that such a special teacher puts in his work, one where he decides to sacrifice his time, resources and image for his students. Such a teacher is a rare find, and our class is grateful in having find you. So far, even in my primary school years, I have not yet found a teacher that could match up to your sacrifices. You have sculpted more than just an academically excellent class, but also a PERFECT sculpture of trust, friendship, integrity, teamwork and love( not gay love :)!! ). I wish that our shallow mindedness could have been removed, our minds enlightened, so that we may learn to appreciate your doings at the start of last year. I hope to be able to be under your teaching again, as I sincerely hope that we may, as a class, have you as our form teacher again to share with us your wisdom and knowledge.

However, we must not be too selfish and learn when to let go. We hope that you may enjoy life with what you do best, being happy and contented with your life. We hope you may one day attain the highest gifts in life and if we may one day attain these gifts, we would be there to share our experiences with you, so that you may look back and on your achievements in transforming our class from one of exactly 0% virtues to a class of wondrous values. May God bless you as you embark on your journey and embark on future endeavors, bringing joy and contentedness to your life.

we r gonna miss u (*sobs)

bryan chin si hao (2) 2N

Dear Mr. Quek,

You have taught us much during these two years, and I'm sure both parties have benefited. You have taught us Emotional Intelligence, to speak the truth, to care for one another, and many more. But what I deem the greatest gift we have received from you would be that you were simply, our teacher. You were given a role to teach us writing, compositions, but you chose to extend it, and teach us much more. By doing so, you have showed us that you care for us, and you care for our personal development. I'm sure everyone of us will feel a sense of guilt whenever we think about this; we haven't been treating you that well throughout the years. But behind all our mistakes and our curses, I'm sure everyone is grateful, truly grateful. We just can't see the purpose at that moment, and only see what harm has been brought onto us. I've done so many times, probably one of the most, but under this, I am thankful that we had a teacher like you to guide us. All I want to say right now is, "Thank you Mr. Quek, and may you have a pleasant and successful journey ahead."

Your Pupil,
Jia Ming

Really miss you guys. Hope you're enjoying the holidays. Spend your time wisely! ;)

Cheerios,

Lhr

YNWA
